The LIBRA case ruling adds another frustrating headline to an already hectic week in crypto. Between the October Fed meeting, the Coinbase customer data leak through Amplitude and the FOMO vs. Pump.fun meme war, there has barely been time to look away. And of course, we’re here for all of it. Punting trades, watching what happens and figuring out the next move.
The most urgent stories get their own blogs because they can affect positions we’re holding. Potentially yours, too. The ICE and Hyperliquid news is a good example. That HYPE trade is now fully closed at $94 for a 260% return. Not too shabby! Could it go higher? Absolutely. But with my BTC and ETH longs still open, I’m happy to bank the win and reduce some exposure.
Today’s crypto news update covers the stories that didn’t get a full blog, plus a few airdrop claims and deadlines worth checking. We’ve got a frustrating LIBRA ruling, Brazil’s exchange deadline, a $100,000 trading card bounty and a familiar NFT collection getting another shot.
LIBRA Case Dismissed Against Javier Milei and Others
An Argentine court has dismissed a LIBRA-related criminal case against President Javier Milei, his sister Karina and nine other people, including token promoter Hayden Davis. Judge Marcelo Martínez de Giorgi issued the ruling on October 23, concluding that the conduct examined in that case did not constitute a criminal offense.
The distinction matters here: this was a dismissal in the proceedings before that court, rather than an acquittal following a trial. The ruling can be challenged, and it does not automatically close every other LIBRA-related case.
For anyone who missed the original disaster, Milei promoted LIBRA on X on February 14, 2025. Buyers rushed in, the token’s value surged and then it collapsed within hours. The judge found that a presidential post giving the project visibility did not, by itself, establish criminal fraud. Investor representatives have criticized the decision and the way the investigation was handled.
This one hits close to home. I took a fairly large bet on LIBRA and lost most of it within two hours of launch. I wasn’t expecting to get that money back. But I did want to see accountability for what, from my side of the screen, felt like a presidential rug pull. So yes, I’m disappointed. Fuck this guy.
That’s my reaction as someone who lost money, separate from what the court decided. It’s also another reason I have little patience for political token hype. Our look at the worst political memecoins has plenty of reminders, while our crypto rug pull guide explains the warning signs to watch for.
Airdrop Updates and Claims to Check
Farming is only half the job. You also need to follow updates after you’ve put the work in. Miss a claim window or a new eligibility requirement, and you can end up with nothing despite months of activity. Here are three updates to keep on your radar:
- Cambria: RSGP has been distributed to participating farmers’ wallets. Hope you joined this one. Check the wallet you used to farm. MEXC’s listing announcement schedules RSGP/USDT trading for October 29 at 15:00 UTC.
- Meteora: Referral Staking Cycle 3 rewards are now claimable. Rewards from Cycles 1, 2 and 3 remain available until March 31, 2027. Use the wallet you participated with when checking your allocation.
- Hibachi: The points program ends on November 8. Keep that date in mind if you’ve been farming. The end of points is not, on its own, confirmation of a token launch or a claim opening that day.
We’ve also launched a new airdrop categories overview with more than 20 categories. These include Testnet, AI, Gaming, DeFi, Trading, Staking, Potential, Robinhood and meme coins.
Each category brings together relevant guides, recent articles and a live feed of new airdrops. If you want to focus on one niche or chain, this should make finding your next opportunity a lot easier. Pick your corner of the market and lock in.
Brazil Crypto Exchanges Face an October 30 Deadline
Brazil’s crypto exchanges have a busy Halloween eve ahead. Existing providers must submit their authorization applications to the country’s central bank by Friday, October 30, to continue under the transitional rules. Submitting an application is the first step; it does not mean an exchange has already received a license.
Providers that apply on time can continue operating while their applications are reviewed. Those that miss the deadline face a 30-day period to stop the regulated services covered by the rules. Separate restrictions affecting banks and payment institutions dealing with providers outside the permitted framework begin on November 6.
The challenge goes beyond paperwork. Exchanges face capital requirements, custody checks, anti-money laundering controls and ongoing compliance costs. Industry representatives also say questions remain about transfers involving self-custody wallets and how parts of the reporting framework should work.
Larger exchanges have more resources to handle that process. Smaller operators may struggle, potentially leaving customers with fewer choices. Coinbase, Binance and OKX are among the major platforms reported to have submitted applications.
If you use an exchange in Brazil, follow its local announcements for changes to deposits, withdrawals or available products. Our guide to crypto exchanges in Brazil gives you a starting point for comparing platforms.
Adam Weitsman Offers a $100,000 Mudwater Card Bounty
A trading card pull with a six-figure buyer waiting? That should get people opening packs. NFT collector and BAYC member Adam Weitsman has announced a $100,000 bounty for the first unique 1/1 Mudwater card pulled, according to his post on X.
Mudwater is the trading card project from Yuga Labs and Orange Cap Games. Its cards connect digital collectibles with physical counterparts, giving collectors something to hold as well as something to trade onchain. A 1/1 means there is only one copy of that particular card.
The launch put a large share of its distribution toward Bored Ape holders, Mutant Ape holders and ApeFest attendees. Following the bounty announcement, reports put individual packs around 0.94 SOL and physical boxes on eBay between $1,100 and $1,700. Those are reported market snapshots, not fixed prices or proof of completed sales.
The bounty adds an expensive chase to the launch, although it certainly doesn’t make every pack valuable. If you’re checking whether you qualified for packs, start with our Mudwater airdrop guide.
Invisible Friends Gets a New Owner
Remember farming Discord for an Invisible Friends mint spot? Back then, people treated a whitelist like a winning lottery ticket. Mint, flip for a few ETH and move on to the next server. Good old NFT days, lol.
Now the collection is starting another chapter. Early team member coinbilly says he has fully acquired the Invisible Friends brand, including its smart contracts, intellectual property, remaining inventory and animation production files. The acquisition followed more than two years of work. Original artist Markus Magnusson will not be involved in future operations, according to the announcement.
The plan is to take the recognizable walking characters into physical products, animation, digital experiments and brand collaborations. Existing holders are expected to receive priority access, and coinbilly has also outlined plans for a free commemorative edition for holders.
I remember how much hype this collection had around mint. Everyone seemed to be grinding for a spot. But the attention faded quickly, and the collection never lived up to those early expectations. New ownership gives it another chance. Let’s see whether this chapter delivers something people actually want beyond the existing NFT crowd.
Final Words
A 260% HYPE win, a LIBRA case ruling I’m not happy about, airdrops landing and old NFT names trying again. Pretty typical crypto week, then.
My HYPE trade is closed, but my BTC and ETH longs are still open. I’m happy taking some profit off the table while keeping exposure through those positions. There’s always another trade; I don’t need to squeeze every last dollar out of this one.
For the farmers, check your Cambria wallet, review your Meteora rewards and mark November 8 for Hibachi. Then use the new airdrop categories overview to find what deserves your time next. Stay on top of the updates. The work you’ve already done only pays if you follow it through.
