Who Is Bonkguy: The Meme Coin Influencer?

Every meme coin cycle produces one trade that everyone wishes they had taken. In the 2023 cycle, that trade belonged to an anonymous account called Unipcs, who leveraged $16,000 into roughly $20 million at peak on a dog coin most people had written off. Crypto Twitter gave him a simpler name: Bonkguy.

His story since then contains everything this series is about: legendary conviction, cult followings, brutal liquidations, and the uncomfortable economics of being a meme coin influencer. Few characters compress the entire KOL experience into one account quite like this one.

Who Is Bonkguy?

Bonkguy is the nickname of Unipcs, an anonymous meme coin trader and influencer who posts as @theunipcs on X. Unlike most figures in this series, nobody knows his real name. His identity is his track record.

The short version:

  • Anonymous meme coin trader, famous since the 2023–2024 BONK run
  • Turned $16,000 into roughly $20 million in peak unrealized profit on a leveraged BONK position
  • Known for long-form conviction threads rather than quick calls
  • One of the loudest voices behind USELESS in 2025 and Robinhood chain memes in 2026
  • Currently the most followed and most profitable trader on the fomo app, where his portfolio crossed $20 million in September 2026

His following even launched a fan coin called “BONK GUY WAS RIGHT,” which tells you everything about the cult of personality around big public trades.

The BONK Trade That Made Him

The origin story deserves its own section, because everything else flows from it.

In 2023, BONK was a struggling Solana dog coin that had already pumped and dumped once. Unipcs opened a leveraged long position with around $16,000 and did something almost nobody does: he posted about it constantly, held through every correction, and turned the position itself into content. As BONK exploded through late 2023 and 2024, his unrealized profit peaked around $20 million.

The trade became Crypto Twitter legend for two reasons. First, the sheer multiple. Second, the transparency: he narrated the entire ride in public, corrections included, preaching one message throughout. Conviction, in his telling, separates the traders who catch generational runs from those who sell the first double.

That message built his brand. It also set up everything that followed, for better and worse.

The USELESS Chapter

By mid-2025, Bonkguy had a new obsession: USELESS, the satirical Solana meme coin whose entire joke is admitting it has no utility. He explicitly compared its chart structure to BONK before his legendary trade and called it the king meme of the cycle. His threads reached far beyond Western Crypto Twitter, and he built a genuinely large following in China posting about it.

The attention worked. USELESS ran to a nine-figure market cap, and we covered that run in detail in our piece on how USELESS hit $100 million. Whatever you think of the coin, his relentless evangelism was a measurable part of its bid.

Full disclosure from my side: I traded USELESS during those weeks and it treated me well. More on that in My Take.

The October 2025 Liquidation

Here is the chapter that separates this profile from a highlight reel.

During the brutal market-wide liquidation cascade of October 2025, Bonkguy got wiped out on every single perpetual position he held: BONK, FARTCOIN, POPCAT, PNUT and more, all gone. By his own public accounting, the positions represented over $30 million at peak unrealized value, and well above $15 million shortly before the cascade hit. He also lost most of a large ASTER position used as lending collateral, salvaging roughly $1 million from the wreckage.

His response was pure Bonkguy. He posted the damage transparently, quoted the Book of Job, and immediately rotated his remaining funds back into BONK, refusing, in his words, to be a Bonk Guy without BONK exposure.

The episode is arguably the most important lesson in this entire series. The same leverage and diamond-hand conviction that created the $20 million legend deleted it. Conviction is not a strategy by itself. It is a multiplier on whatever position you already have, in both directions.

The 2026 Arc: Low Caps and Robinhood Chain

Rebuilt and undeterred, Bonkguy spent 2026 as one of the most active callers in the trenches, and opinions on this era split sharply.

He has sprayed attention across many low-cap coins this year, posting entries and quick multiples on names like MARSCOIN, BRODIE, and others. Some ran hard for days. Many faded just as fast, and critics note that far fewer of his 2026 calls sustained than his big-conviction era suggested. Some accuse him of building positions, promoting them, and selling into the attention his posts create. He disputes the paid-shill framing and points to his public entries. We simply note the accusations exist, as they do for nearly every KOL who posts entries this frequently.

His biggest 2026 theme has been Robinhood chain memes. While most of Crypto Twitter dismissed the chain, he went the other way. In late July, he started buying PONS, the token behind the leading launchpad on the chain, when it traded around a single-digit-millions valuation. That contrarian entry became the foundation of his next act. For the wider context on that ecosystem, see our guide to the top Robinhood chain memes.

The Fomo App Arc: The Comeback, Fully Documented

Then came the run that turned the comeback story into a second legend.

Around June 2026, Bonkguy moved his trading onto the fomo app, the multichain social trading platform where every position, entry, and PNL number sits on a public profile. No leverage this time. Spot only, thesis posted, receipts visible. It was the BONK playbook rebuilt for a platform designed to broadcast it.

The centerpiece was PONS. On-chain trackers like Arkham showed he put roughly $67,000 into the token, buying about 1% of the supply near a $6 million market cap, and then simply refused to sell as it climbed toward its $100 million-plus all-time high. That single conviction hold ran close to 100x and did most of the heavy lifting, with USELESS and MARSCOIN positions stacked alongside it. We broke down the token itself in our what is $PONS guide, so you can judge the asset separately from the trader.

The numbers turned into a public spectacle through early September 2026. He became the first trader ever to cross a $10 million portfolio on the platform, then $15 million days later, then $20 million the day after that, with roughly $15 million of PNL added in a single month. He now sits at the top of the all-time profitability leaderboard with a multi-million-dollar lead on second place, and more than 450,000 followers track his fomo profile, making him the most followed trader on the app. The usual asterisk applies with double force here: these are portfolio marks in thin meme coin liquidity, not withdrawn cash, and single days have already swung his account by millions in both directions.

Still, the arc is remarkable on its own terms. One year after a total liquidation, the same conviction style, minus the leverage, rebuilt an eight-figure account in public. If you want to watch it happen in real time, or copy the transparency rather than the trades, you can join the fomo app through our link and use code FairSaltySquid for 10% off fees.

Has Bonkguy Been Right?

More visibly right, and more visibly wrong, than almost anyone in meme coins.

The wins are real and public. The BONK trade is one of the most documented meme coin trades ever. The USELESS call ran to nine figures. His early Robinhood chain stance looked contrarian-correct while the crowd mocked it, and the PONS hold turned that stance into a verified near-100x with his fomo profile as the receipt.

The losses are equally public. The October 2025 liquidation erased eight figures of unrealized profit in one day. Plenty of his low-cap calls round-tripped. And the honest asterisk on the legend itself: peak unrealized PnL is not realized money, a distinction his own story now demonstrates better than any textbook.

That transparency, in both directions, is genuinely rare. Most influencers delete their losers. He posts his liquidations with Bible verses. Judge the record however you like, but at least the record is visible.

Criticism

The criticism around Bonkguy clusters into a few recurring themes:

  • Dumping accusations. Critics allege a pattern of accumulating low caps, promoting them to a large audience, and selling into the pump. He denies operating as a paid shill and posts his entries publicly. No formal findings exist either way; readers should know the accusation is common and unproven.
  • Leverage as content. His signature style, leveraged conviction narrated live, made him famous and then blew him up. Detractors argue that packaging leverage as inspiration is dangerous for the retail audience consuming it.
  • The 2026 spray-and-pray turn. Followers of the high-conviction era note the shift from one legendary position to dozens of fast calls, which looks less like a thesis and more like a content treadmill.
  • Survivorship legend. For every $16k-to-$20M story, thousands of traders ran identical strategies into zero. His existence is partly a lottery-winner artifact, which is not a criticism of him personally, but matters for anyone treating the story as a blueprint.

Should Beginners Follow Bonkguy?

His feed is honestly one of the more educational in the meme trenches, if you read it correctly. Read it wrong and it is a wealth-destruction manual.

  • Study the transparency, skip the leverage. His public wins and public liquidations together form a complete course on what leveraged meme trading actually does to an account. Learn from both halves.
  • Treat his calls as attention signals. When he posts an entry, the attention wave is already moving. Chasing it means buying after his audience. Our cornerstone guide on what makes a good meme coin covers how to evaluate a coin on its own merits instead.
  • Size like he did at the start, not the peak. The legendary trade began with $16k he could lose. It did not begin with someone’s savings chasing a 100x they saw on a timeline.

My Take

I never crossed paths with Bonkguy, but our trades did. During the USELESS run in 2025, his relentless posting was half the reason the coin had a persistent bid, and I traded that wave for a solid profit. I want to be precise about what that means: I was not following his calls. I was trading the attention his calls created, with entries, targets, and exits I chose myself. Those are two different games, and only one of them consistently pays.

That distinction is basically my whole take on him. As a market phenomenon, Bonkguy is genuinely useful: a loud, trackable attention machine whose positions are public. As a role model, he is radioactive. The same feed contains a $16k-to-$20-million legend and a single October day where all of it, and more, evaporated on leverage. Most followers saw the first story and skipped the second. The fomo comeback complicates the picture in an interesting way, because the sequel drops the one ingredient that killed him: leverage. Same conviction, spot only, receipts public. That version of Bonkguy is a far better teacher than the 2024 original.

On the dumping accusations, I hold no inside knowledge either way. What I will say is that for some KOLs in this industry, accumulating cheap, promoting loud, and distributing into their own audience simply is the business model, whether or not any specific individual runs it. Once you understand that possibility exists, you stop asking “is this call good” and start asking “who is selling into me right now.” That second question has saved me far more money than any influencer has ever made me.

Final Words

Bonkguy’s story arcs from a legendary $16,000 BONK trade to eight-figure paper wealth, through total liquidation, into a fully documented eight-figure comeback on the fomo app. Along the way, he became meme coin trading’s most complete public case study: the upside, the wipeout, and the rebuild, all documented on one timeline.

Watch him to understand how attention and conviction move small caps. Trade your own plan anyway. For the broader cast of characters shaping these markets, read our profile of Murad, the supercycle prophet whose conviction game makes an interesting contrast with Bonkguy’s leverage game.

What is Bonkguy’s real name?

Nobody knows publicly. Unipcs has remained anonymous throughout his rise, and his identity has never been credibly revealed.

How much did Bonkguy make on BONK?

His leveraged BONK position, opened with around $16,000, reached roughly $20 million in unrealized profit at its peak. How much he realized was never fully documented, and much of his later paper wealth was lost in the October 2025 liquidation cascade.

Did Bonkguy get liquidated?

Yes. In October 2025, a market-wide crash liquidated all of his perpetual positions, which he said represented over $30 million at peak unrealized value. He salvaged roughly $1 million and rotated it back into BONK.

What coins does Bonkguy promote?

His signature positions have been BONK, USELESS in 2025, and Robinhood chain tokens like PONS in 2026, alongside many short-term low-cap calls. His picks change frequently, so always verify his current positions on-chain rather than assuming.

Is Bonkguy a paid shill?

He denies it and posts his entries publicly. Critics accuse him of promoting coins he accumulated cheaply, a common accusation against high-frequency callers. No formal findings support or disprove the claims, so treat every call as potentially conflicted and research accordingly.

What is the BONK GUY WAS RIGHT coin?

BONK GUY WAS RIGHT (UNIPCS) is a small fan-made Solana meme coin celebrating his famous BONK trade. He did not create it, and like most fan tokens, it trades at a tiny market cap with minimal liquidity.
