MetaMask North Korea: What You Need To Know

Is the Crypto Bear Market Finally Ending?

It feels like we’re getting close.

Whether this is officially the end of the bear market or just another strong rally, one thing is becoming clear: liquidity is starting to return, and certain narratives are attracting serious attention.

Right now, Robinhood-related memecoins seem to be stealing the spotlight. Whether that trend survives another few weeks remains to be seen, but this is exactly the stage of the cycle where it pays to pay attention. Every bull market has its dominant sectors, and identifying them early is often more valuable than trying to chase everything.

Besides the market rotation, there has been no shortage of crypto news worth following. Here’s what caught our attention this week.

One of the more surprising security stories this week involved ConsenSys, the company behind MetaMask.

The firm confirmed that an external developer, later linked to North Korea, gained access to internal systems after being hired through a third-party contractor. According to ConsenSys Chief Legal Officer Matt Corva, suspicious activity was detected quickly, but the contractor retained access for roughly a month before being removed.

Fortunately, the internal investigation concluded there was no evidence of malicious code, stolen assets, or lasting damage.

Why North Korea Keeps Targeting Crypto

Unfortunately, this isn’t an isolated incident.

North Korea has become incredibly sophisticated at infiltrating crypto companies by posing as legitimate remote software engineers. Fake resumes, fabricated identities and recruiters have become common tactics to gain employment inside Web3 companies.

Recent investigations identified around 100 suspected North Korean IT workers operating across more than 50 crypto projects.

The financial incentive is obvious.

According to U.S. authorities, North Korean hackers were responsible for the massive $1.5 billion Bybit exploit, while blockchain security researchers estimate the country accounted for more than half of all crypto stolen through hacks during 2025.

The good news is that crypto companies have become significantly better at sharing threat intelligence. Incidents like this are exactly why security screening continues to improve across the industry.

Airdrop Updates & Claims

One mistake I still see people making is assuming the work ends after completing the initial quests.

Projects regularly introduce new requirements, additional signatures, governance votes or extra tasks months later. Missing one small update can be enough to lose eligibility entirely.

Stay on top of every campaign you’re farming.

Katana Anniversary Quests Return

Katana has launched new quests celebrating its one-year mainnet anniversary.

Participants can earn XP, which translates into raffle tickets for a prize pool worth roughly $12,500.

If you’re already farming Katana, this is an easy one to complete.

Jupiter Active Staking Rewards Are Live

Jupiter has opened Q2 Active Staking Rewards.

Eligible users can now claim their rewards, with the claiming window remaining open until October 8.

Don’t leave free money sitting unclaimed.

Don’t Ignore Exchange Airdrops

While everyone chases the next viral protocol, some of the biggest distributions over the past few years have actually come from centralized exchanges.

We’ve covered why exchanges have quietly become some of the largest airdrop distributors in crypto in our complete guide.

Trump Media Wants $100,000 Per Month for Early Truth Social Posts

One of the more unusual stories this week came from Trump Media, which reportedly pitched Wall Street trading firms a premium data product giving them faster access to President Trump’s Truth Social posts.

According to Reuters, firms were offered:

  • $100,000 per month for the fastest feed.
  • Or $60,000 per month on a three-year commitment.

The new Truth API would deliver posts from the platform’s most influential accounts before standard push notifications reach retail users.

If you’ve ever watched markets react to a tariff announcement, political statement or surprise policy update, you already understand why this matters.

Personally, $100,000 per month is well outside my tax bracket.

But if a handful of traders split the cost, suddenly it becomes far more interesting. One well-timed macro trade could easily pay for an entire year’s subscription.

I’d honestly be surprised if most large trading firms don’t sign up.

For years, retail investors were simply slower because information spread naturally.

Now speed itself has become a product.

Coinbase Man ($BRIAN) Collapses After Brian Armstrong Changes Profile Picture

The Base ecosystem witnessed another reminder of how quickly attention can move.

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong briefly changed his X profile picture to artwork associated with the community-created $BRIAN memecoin.

That single avatar change sent traders rushing into the token.

A short while later, Armstrong replaced the image with a newly purchased CryptoPunk.

The result?

The memecoin quickly gave back almost all of its gains, falling roughly 86% as late buyers rushed for the exits.

It’s another example of how sentiment-driven memecoins can move almost entirely on social signals rather than fundamentals.

Thankfully, I already sold my $BRIAN position for a nice profit before this whole shitshow unfolded.

If you missed the story behind the token, I covered it in detail here.

Nvidia Wants to Power Every AI Data Center

Nvidia isn’t satisfied with dominating GPUs anymore.

Its new Vera Rubin platform combines CPUs and GPUs into a single integrated system, allowing Nvidia to supply almost every major computing component inside modern AI data centers.

The company claims the platform offers dramatically higher efficiency, better memory bandwidth and much easier deployment than previous generations.

With AI rapidly moving toward autonomous agents, CPUs are becoming increasingly important for orchestrating workloads alongside GPUs.

The biggest takeaway isn’t just a faster chip.

It’s Nvidia’s ambition to own the entire AI infrastructure stack.

That thesis actually reminds me why I became bullish on Nvidia over a decade ago.

Back in 2015, my investment thesis centered around Nvidia becoming the backbone of data centers, gaming, AI and eventually crypto mining. I recently shared that story — complete with receipts — after revisiting one of the biggest investing mistakes of my career.

Final Thoughts

Crypto never stays quiet for long.

This week reminded us that security remains one of the industry’s biggest challenges, exchange reward programs continue handing out free value, Wall Street is finding new ways to monetize information, memecoins remain driven by attention more than fundamentals, and the AI race keeps accelerating behind the scenes.

As always, stay curious, keep farming, and don’t forget to check back regularly. Missing a single quest, governance vote or claim window has cost people life-changing airdrops before.

We’ll keep watching the trends, so you don’t have to.
