Hyperliquid vs Pacifica 2026: The Solana Challenger

By WebDeskSeptember 24, 20266 Mins Read

Hyperliquid wrote the playbook every perp DEX now tries to copy. No venture capital, real revenue, fast execution and a huge airdrop for the people who showed up early. Pacifica is running that same playbook on Solana, and it’s doing it before its token even exists.

This Hyperliquid vs Pacifica comparison looks at both platforms side by side. We cover fees, liquidity, speed, markets and the one thing farmers care about most: Pacifica’s untouched airdrop.

Hyperliquid or Pacifica? The Fast Answer

Hyperliquid is the better perp DEX for trading today, with far deeper liquidity, hundreds of markets and a proven token. Pacifica is the better farming target, since it runs a self-funded points program on Solana with no token launched yet. Trade your main size on Hyperliquid, and farm Pacifica points with smaller, hedged positions.

For platform-by-platform detail, see our Hyperliquid review and our Pacifica review. What follows is the direct comparison.

Hyperliquid Pacifica
Chain Own Layer 1 Solana (off-chain matching, on-chain settlement)
Base fees 0.045% taker / 0.015% maker Around 0.04% taker / 0.015% maker
Scale ~$239B in 30-day perp volume $100B+ cumulative since June 2025
Max leverage Up to 40x Up to 50x
Markets Hundreds of perps, spot, HIP-3 stocks and commodities Major crypto perps, spot, vaults
Funding Self-funded, no VCs Self-funded, no VCs
Token HYPE, live since Nov 2024 None yet, weekly points program
Wallets EVM wallets Phantom, Solflare, Backpack, Ledger, social login

Same Philosophy, Different Stage

The parallels are striking. Hyperliquid refused venture money and funded itself through trading revenue. Pacifica took the same route. It raised nothing from VCs and already runs profitably, with protocol revenue on pace for tens of millions of dollars a year.

That matters for airdrop hunters. With no investors waiting for unlocks, a bigger share of any token supply can flow to users. Hyperliquid proved this in 2024, when its Genesis airdrop handed 31% of HYPE supply to the community.

The team behind Pacifica also brings serious credentials. Co-founder Constance Wang previously served as COO of FTX, and the wider team includes alumni from Binance, Coinbase, Jane Street and OpenAI.

The difference is timing. Hyperliquid already paid out. Pacifica is still in the points phase.

Fees and Execution Speed

Base fees look almost identical. Hyperliquid charges 0.045% taker and 0.015% maker at the starting tier. Pacifica sits around 0.04% taker and 0.015% maker, and both platforms cut rates as your volume grows.

Pacifica also runs frequent promotions, like half-price fees on selected pairs. Keep an eye out for those if you farm points, since cheaper volume stretches your budget further.

On speed, both feel like a centralized exchange. Pacifica matches orders off-chain in milliseconds and settles on Solana. Hyperliquid runs matching directly on its own chain. Either way, you won’t notice lag during normal trading.

Edge: even.

Liquidity: The Real Gap

Here the picture changes fast. Hyperliquid did about $239 billion in perp volume over 30 days in mid-September 2026. It regularly holds more open interest than the next nine perp DEXs combined.

Pacifica has crossed $100 billion in total volume since its June 2025 mainnet launch, and it became Solana’s top perp DEX by daily volume. Impressive, but it’s still a fraction of Hyperliquid’s scale. Its books thin out quickly on anything beyond the majors.

For small and mid-size orders on BTC, ETH or SOL, Pacifica fills fine. For larger positions or smaller coins, Hyperliquid wins easily.

Edge: Hyperliquid.

Markets and Tools

Hyperliquid lists hundreds of perp markets plus spot. HIP-3 builder markets add stocks, indices and commodities, and Kraken’s parent Payward plans to offer Hyperliquid perps to eligible US clients. HyperEVM and vaults complete a full ecosystem.

Pacifica focuses on fewer markets, mostly major crypto perps, with leverage up to 50x. It stands out on tooling. AI-assisted order tools help with trade ideas and risk checks, and vaults let users follow strategies or run their own.

Onboarding is another Pacifica strength. Solana users can connect Phantom, Solflare or Backpack in seconds. Newcomers can even sign up with email, Google or X.

Edge: Hyperliquid for markets, Pacifica for Solana-native convenience.

Airdrops: Paid Out vs Still Loading

This section decides the matchup for many readers. Hyperliquid’s big drop is history. HYPE now trades as one of the strongest tokens in DeFi, with nearly all trading fees funding buybacks. Farmers still hope for another season, and our Hyperliquid Season 3 tracker follows every hint.

Pacifica hasn’t launched a token at all. Its points program has distributed rewards every week since September 2025, based on trading activity. The team has never confirmed a conversion to tokens. Still, a profitable, VC-free perp DEX with weekly points follows a familiar pattern, and farmers know it.

Our Pacifica airdrop guide explains how to start earning points. To farm without betting on direction, hedge a Pacifica position against an opposite one elsewhere. Our delta-neutral airdrop farming guide shows the full setup.

Edge: Pacifica for upside, Hyperliquid for a proven token.

Which One Should You Use?

Pick Hyperliquid if you:

  • Need deep liquidity for larger trades
  • Want stocks, commodities or HyperEVM DeFi
  • Prefer a platform with a long track record

Pick Pacifica if you:

  • Live in the Solana ecosystem already
  • Want to farm points before a possible token launch
  • Like AI trading tools and easy social login

Pacifica doesn’t offer our readers a referral link. Our advice: trade on Hyperliquid with our link as your main venue, and farm Pacifica on the side. For a hedging partner with zero trading fees, Lighter pairs nicely through our referral.

Final Words

Pacifica looks like Hyperliquid at an earlier stage. Same self-funded model, same focus on speed, same weekly points before a token. Hyperliquid remains the better place to trade, while Pacifica remains one of the best places to farm. Most traders should use both for exactly those reasons.

Before this, we compared Hyperliquid with a platform that refunds its fees. Read Hyperliquid vs edgeX for that matchup. Want to trade smarter on any venue? Our trading fundamentals hub covers the essentials.

FAQ

Is Pacifica the next Hyperliquid?
It follows the same model: self-funded, profitable and rewarding users with points before a token. Whether it reaches Hyperliquid’s scale remains to be seen, but the setup looks familiar.

Does Pacifica have a token?
Not yet. Pacifica runs a weekly points program based on trading activity, but the team hasn’t confirmed a token or airdrop.

Which has lower fees, Hyperliquid or Pacifica?
Base fees land close together, around 0.04% to 0.045% taker and 0.015% maker. Pacifica also runs fee promotions on selected pairs.

Is Pacifica built on Hyperliquid?
No. Pacifica runs on Solana, with off-chain order matching and on-chain settlement. Hyperliquid operates its own Layer 1 blockchain.

Can I farm Pacifica points and trade Hyperliquid at the same time?
Yes. Many farmers do exactly that, often hedging positions across venues to limit market risk.
