Bybit vs Binance: A Comprehensive Comparison

Bybit vs Binance: A Comprehensive Comparison
Share

Bybit vs Binance is the biggest head-to-head in centralized crypto right now. Binance is still the largest exchange on the planet. Bybit, meanwhile, is its closest challenger and arguably the better home for reward hunters. In 2026, however, one event changed this comparison completely. Binance lost legal access to the EU on July 1 after failing to secure a MiCA license. Bybit’s European entity, by contrast, is fully licensed. Therefore, this comparison covers fees, products, security, bonuses, and the regulatory reality — so you can pick the right platform.

Quick verdict: Binance still wins on raw liquidity and slightly cheaper futures fees. However, Bybit wins on rewards, regulatory standing, and EU access. For most active traders and airdrop farmers in 2026, Bybit is the safer all-round pick. For the full breakdowns, read our Bybit review and Binance review.

Bybit vs Binance at a Glance

Futures fees (base) 0.02% / 0.055% 0.02% / 0.05%

MiCA license (EU) Yes (bybit.eu) No — EU access lost July 2026
Reward programs Launchpool, ByStarter, campaigns Launchpool, Megadrop, HODLer Airdrops
Major incidents $1.5B hack (2025, fully covered) 10/10 crash pricing controversy

Trading Fees: Binance by a Hair

Both exchanges charge 0.10% on spot at the base tier. Binance edges ahead on derivatives, however. Its USDT-margined futures cost 0.02% maker and 0.05% taker. Bybit charges 0.02% and 0.055% on the same contracts. That half-basis-point gap only matters for heavy market-order traders. Additionally, Binance’s USDC-margined perps run 0.00% maker and 0.04% taker — the cheapest CEX perp pricing anywhere.

Both platforms discount further through VIP tiers. Binance also offers a 25% spot discount for paying fees in BNB. In short, Binance wins the pure fee battle, but only narrowly.

Liquidity and Products: Binance Is Bigger, Bybit Is Sharper

Binance remains the deepest market in crypto. Its BTC and ETH books absorb large orders better than any venue. Furthermore, its catalog of 600+ coins across 1,500+ pairs beats Bybit’s ~480.

Bybit counters with focus. Around 710 perpetual contracts trade with excellent depth, and its matching engine has a strong record during volatility. Moreover, Bybit’s Unified Trading Account shares collateral across spot, margin, options, and futures. Pre-market perpetuals also let you trade tokens before they list. That’s a genuinely useful tool for hedging expected airdrop allocations.

For pure size, Binance wins. For a trader-focused toolkit, the gap is much smaller than the volume charts suggest.

The MiCA Divide: This Changes Everything for EU Users

Here’s the section that settles the comparison for millions of readers. Binance withdrew its MiCA application in Greece on June 24, 2026. As a result, it cannot legally serve EU users since July 1. New registrations are halted, and existing EU customers face suspended services.

Bybit went the other way. Its European entity at bybit.eu holds full MiCA authorization. EEA users are being migrated there through 2026, with the same fee schedule. Consequently, for anyone in the EU, this comparison has only one legal answer. Bybit wins by default — Binance isn’t currently an option.

Bonuses and Rewards: Where the Free Crypto Lives

This is our favorite angle at AirdropAlert, and both exchanges deliver — with caveats.

Bybit runs one of the most active reward ecosystems in crypto. Launchpool lets you stake MNT, USDT, or USDC to farm new tokens. ByStarter and Launchpad handle token sales. On top of that, trading campaigns and deposit bonuses run near-constantly. We’ve tracked years of them on our Bybit project page, where every live offer is listed.

Binance invented the launchpool game, and its programs remain lucrative. Launchpool, Megadrop, and HODLer Airdrops distribute new tokens to BNB stakers and holders. Historically, Binance Launchpool has produced some of the most valuable distributions in crypto. Our Binance project page archives that history. The catch, however, is access. These reward products are excluded in a growing list of regulated markets. Since July 2026, EU users are cut off entirely.

The verdict here: Binance’s rewards are slightly richer per event where available. Bybit’s are more accessible and more frequent. For most farmers, Bybit is the more practical choice.

Security and Trust: Two Different Scars

Neither platform is spotless, and the scars differ in kind.

Bybit suffered the largest exchange hack in history in February 2025. Roughly $1.5 billion in ETH was stolen. The response defined the exchange, however. Bybit covered every customer loss from its own liquidity, and withdrawals never froze. Since then, it publishes monthly proof-of-reserves.

Binance has never lost user funds to a hack since 2019. Its scars are structural instead. The $4.3 billion US settlement is history now. More relevant is October 10, 2025, when collateral assets depegged on Binance’s internal pricing during the crash. Many analysts argue this amplified the $19 billion liquidation cascade. Binance compensated affected users and changed its methodology. Nevertheless, the episode raised real questions about concentration risk.

Pick your risk: a hack that was fully absorbed, or market machinery that buckled once under stress.

Bybit vs Binance: Final Words

So, Bybit vs Binance in 2026 — who takes it? Binance keeps the crown for raw liquidity, catalog size, and the cheapest USDC-perp fees. If you trade serious size in a supported region, it still earns a place. However, the overall momentum favors Bybit. It holds the MiCA license Binance failed to get. Its reward ecosystem is more accessible. Additionally, it proved its solvency under the worst stress test imaginable. For EU users, the choice is already made. For everyone else, Bybit is the stronger default — with Binance as the liquidity specialist.
