What Is Pools.trade? Uniswap Launchpad Explained

What Is Pools.trade? Uniswap Launchpad Explained

Uniswap just walked into the launchpad wars, and it didn’t knock first. On August 5, 2026, Uniswap Labs launched Pools.trade, a token launchpad built for Robinhood Chain. Within 24 hours, it flipped the incumbent Pons on daily token launches. The community reaction? Loud, split, and still going.

In this guide, we break down what Pools.trade actually is, the mechanics under the hood, why the backlash erupted, and what happened to the PONS token when the giant stepped into the room.

What Is Pools.trade?

Pools.trade is the official Uniswap launchpad, live on Robinhood Chain. It gives users one interface to create, discover, and trade new tokens. Instead of launching a token elsewhere and hoping liquidity finds it, every token launches directly into a Uniswap v4 pool with permanently locked liquidity.

That last part matters. Locked liquidity removes one of the oldest rug vectors in memecoin land: the deployer pulling the pool. Uniswap is positioning Pools.trade as the cleaner, cheaper way to launch, backed by infrastructure it has run for eight years.

Distribution came heavy from day one. Pools.trade shipped with support across the Uniswap web app, the Uniswap wallet, and the trading API, plus third-party venues like Bitget, GMGN, Fomo, and OKX Wallet. Very few launchpads get that kind of reach on launch day.

Pools Trade Beta

What Is Pools.trade Trying to Solve?

Uniswap built Pools.trade around three pain points that plague pump.fun-style platforms:

1. Sniping and bundling. Insiders grabbing huge allocations at the open has ruined countless launches. Pools.trade offers a “crowd launch” mode, a four-hour window designed to make bundling much harder and give regular buyers a fairer entry.

2. Extractive fees. Most launchpads charge around 1% on trades. Pools.trade charges no launchpad fee at all. The trading side runs on a 0.25% LP fee that autocompounds back into the locked pool, split 20% to the token creator and 80% into the liquidity mechanism. Nothing flows to the Uniswap team directly.

3. Fragmented liquidity. Tokens on other launchpads eventually “graduate” to a DEX. On Pools.trade, tokens are born inside Uniswap v4 liquidity from block one. No migration, no graduation gap, no thin order books during the handoff.

Founder Hayden Adams framed it simply: Uniswap has effectively been launchpad infrastructure for eight years, since new tokens have always launched into Uniswap pools. Pools.trade just makes that official.

The Mechanics: Instant Launch vs Crowd Launch

Pools.trade supports two launch paths:

  • Instant launch: Works like the launchpads you already know. Deploy, and trading starts immediately on a bonding-curve-style setup.
  • Crowd launch: A four-hour accumulation window before trading opens. The design resists sniping bots and bundled insider buys, spreading the entry across real participants.

Both paths end in the same place: a Uniswap v4 pool with liquidity locked forever. The 0.25% fee keeps compounding into that pool, which means every trade deepens the liquidity floor instead of enriching a middleman.

The rollout itself got messy, though. Degens found earlier versions of the smart contracts before the interface even went live and pushed over $150 million in volume through them. The team ended up supporting both the test contracts and the final contracts at once, which delayed the official launch.

The Backlash: Did Uniswap Do Pons Dirty?

Here is where the story gets spicy. Uniswap didn’t launch Pools.trade into empty territory. Robinhood Chain already had a thriving launchpad scene, led by Pons, a platform that settles every trade on Uniswap’s own AMM. Pons started on Uniswap v3 and had upgraded to a Uniswap v4 hook just one week before Pools.trade went live.

It gets worse. On July 30, six days before launch, Uniswap shipped a “Launches” aggregator tab that named Pons, Bankr, and Long as launchpad builders “choosing Uniswap as their trading infrastructure.” Then it dropped a direct competitor on their heads.

Crypto Twitter did not hold back. One trader summed up the mood with “they did pons dirty af.” Others warned that Uniswap had opened itself up to attacks from rival DEXs hungry for market share, and that builders would think twice before building on a protocol that might clone them next quarter.

Critics also accused Uniswap of pump.fun-style value extraction. Adams pushed back hard, pointing out that the 0.25% fee is four times cheaper than the roughly 1% competitors charge, and that assuming users prefer extractive platforms says more about the critics than about Uniswap.

The uncomfortable truth for the critics: it worked. Pools.trade created 10,506 tokens on day one against Pons’ 7,210. It quickly captured around half of all launchpad volume on the chain, and Robinhood Chain DEX volumes rebounded roughly 50% from local lows. We covered how explosive this chain can get when CASHCAT went vertical on Robinhood Chain earlier this year, and Pools.trade just poured jet fuel on that same fire.

PONS Price Action: Paying the Platform Tax

The market repriced Pons instantly. PONS dropped 49% on the week as traders rotated toward the new default. Holders learned an old lesson in real time: when the protocol you build on becomes your competitor, your moat evaporates overnight.

Some rotation cuts both ways, though. Launchpad tokens on Robinhood Chain have a habit of violent mean reversion once sellers exhaust themselves, and Pons still processes real volume. Anyone trading these names should treat them as high-beta bets on the launchpad wars, not long-term holds. The broader Robinhood memecoin scene remains one of the fastest rotating metas in crypto right now, and narratives flip weekly.

Final Words

Pools.trade is a power move, plain and simple. Uniswap took its biggest structural advantages, deep liquidity, distribution, and the ability to run at zero fee, and aimed them at a category its own ecosystem partners created. The backlash is understandable, and the “platform eats its builders” debate will follow Uniswap for a while.

For traders and airdrop farmers, the takeaway is simpler: Robinhood Chain just got a new center of gravity. Watch where the volume settles, because that is where the next opportunities will spawn.

FAQ

What is Pools.trade? Pools.trade is a token launchpad by Uniswap Labs on Robinhood Chain. It lets users create, discover, and trade tokens through one interface, with every token launching into a Uniswap v4 pool with permanently locked liquidity.

How much does Pools.trade charge? The platform charges no launchpad fee. Trades carry a 0.25% LP fee that compounds back into the locked pool, split 20% to the token creator and 80% into liquidity.

What is a crowd launch on Pools.trade? A crowd launch is a four-hour accumulation window before trading opens. The design makes sniping and bundling by insiders much harder than on instant-launch platforms.

Why is there backlash against the Uniswap launchpad? Uniswap launched Pools.trade in direct competition with Pons and other launchpads that build on Uniswap’s own infrastructure, days after featuring them in its own aggregator. Many saw that as a betrayal of its ecosystem.

What happened to the PONS token? PONS fell 49% in the week around the Pools.trade launch as traders rotated to Uniswap’s platform, which out-launched Pons on its very first day.
