The 2026 award went to him for his tremendous contribution to the financial sector in general. Participants who attended the award ceremony lauded his leadership and scalability skills, which pushed fintech into the traditional financial sector.

The highest Harvard award has been going on since 1969, honoring the legacy of influential leaders who made a change in society. Ripple XRP’s journey has been the talk of the town for a decade as the company singlehandedly pushed blockchain technology into traditional finance. Leading global banks are now using Ripple’s fintech to settle payments faster, allowing them to scale their services.
“Brad represents exactly what this award is meant to celebrate,” said Ben Dubin, Event Chair, Venture Capitalist, and longtime HBSANC Board member. “He built Ripple into a company that is redefining the infrastructure of global finance. And along the way took on a legal fight that benefited the entire industry. It was our privilege to honor him, Chris, and the entire Ripple team,” he said.

The CEO’s legal battle against the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Ripple’s XRP being a security made headlines. Garlinghouse successfully navigated troubled waters, bringing victory not only to Ripple but to the entire cryptocurrency market. “It was my honor to recognize Brad. Who did not simply participate in the evolution of blockchain; he helped define it,” said Vince Lane, Co-Founder of UNOVA and HBSANC Board Member.
“Brad is a true pioneer at the intersection of innovation and finance. Transforming possibility into infrastructure, trust into code, and vision into a new global economic paradigm,” he said. However, Ripple’s native token XRP barely moved in price after the event.
