A new documentary has been aired by CNBC in collaboration with the Global Sustainability Trade Initiative (GSTI), featuring VeChain and how the blockchain platform is making it possible to achieve measurable sustainability in the real world. VeChain, which launched in 2015, has grown from its initial supply chain tracking systems to provide customers and companies with the ability to track, verify, and receive rewards for environmentally conscious actions through blockchain.
The film documents the transition of the VeChain blockchain technology beyond the experimental stage to operation. Through its VeChainThor blockchain and the larger VeBetter ecosystem, users have an opportunity to earn B3TR tokens by having real-life sustainable behavior. These tokens are steps like reusable mugs, local cleanups, green groceries, renewable energy, and environmentally friendly transportation.

The ability to have such actions verified on-chain by immutable records is one of the major advantages of VeChain. This will allow the businesses to utilize the information in sustainability audits, ESG disclosures, and green financing.
VeChain Ecosystem Expands with Real-World Apps, Token Rewards
The VeBetter platform, supporting more than 50 applications, can be accessed via VeWorld, the single wallet and Web3 application of the VeChain ecosystem. Designed to be user-friendly, the platform does not need any existing knowledge of crypto and is geared towards bringing an audience with mainstream appeal. The Mugshot, GreenCart, Cleanify, and SolarWise apps allow their users to achieve token-based rewards in making eco-friendly decisions, but also compile data to use in larger societal sustainability initiatives.
As CNF detailed, in just one year of operation, VeBetter has recorded 5.5 million new users, helped divert 300,000 kilograms of plastic, saved 18 million liters of water, preserved 600,000 kilograms of timber, and reduced CO₂ emissions by 5,000 tons. These verified statistics are now being used in business sustainability reporting, loyalty programs, and more.
VeChain CEO Sunny Lu, in the documentary, explained that blockchain allows for immutable storage of verified data, making it suitable for tracking actions and issuing token-based incentives. He added that the future of VeChain includes AI agents that will optimize user rewards by aggregating sustainable behavior across platforms, increasing both engagement and verified environmental benefit.
As VeChain continues to increase its physical presence, it has also launched the VeFounder program, which enables members of the community to run existing VeBetter apps on their own. This decentralized approach fits the objective of VeChain to encourage widespread involvement in its sustainability agenda. According to CNF, this model is aimed at facilitating scalable growth, and each user action should provide verifiable environmental results.
