Bitcoin Soars Past $122K As Metaplanet Buys 797 More BTC

Bitcoin surged to a new ATH (all-time high) above $122,000 early Monday as corporate buying intensified, led by Metaplanet’s purchase of another 797 BTC and a new signal from Michael Saylor that Strategy may resume its BTC buying spree.

The king of cryptos jumped 3% over the past 24 hours, hitting $122,340.63 at 2:23 a.m. EST after earlier hitting a record intraday high of $122,540.92,

Metaplanet Boosts Bitcoin Holdings With 797 BTC Buy

Metaplanet announced earlier today that it bought another 797 BTC for around $93.6 million. The firm’s CEO, Simon Gerovich, shared the announcement on X in a post earlier today. 

Metaplanet has acquired 797 BTC for ~$93.6 million at ~$117,451 per bitcoin and has achieved BTC Yield of 435.9% YTD 2025. As of 7/14/2025, we hold 16,352 $BTC acquired for ~$1.64 billion at ~$100,191 per bitcoin. $MTPLF pic.twitter.com/zFSH0WIima

He said the latest buy was executed at an average price of around $117,451. Following the latest Bitcoin purchase, Metaplanet’s holdings now stand at 16,352 BTC, acquired for a total of $1.64 billion.

Strategy Might Announce Another Bitcoin Buy Today

Metaplanet is not the only company continuing its aggressive Bitcoin accumulation. Strategy co-founder Michael Saylor signaled that his firm might resume its BTC buys today after a week-long hiatus.

Saylor shared a snapshot of the SaylorTracker chart as well, a move often followed by an announcement of another Strategy Bitcoin buy.

Data from Bitcoin Treasuries shows Strategy is the current leader when it comes to corporate Bitcoin holdings with its stash of $597,325 Bitcoins. 

While the firm paused its Bitcoin acquisitions last week, it did announce a $4.2 billion capital raise to buy more BTC. Prior to this break, Strategy had bought BTC for 12 consecutive weeks.
