Siemens AG and B2C2 have adopted JPMorgan Chase’s blockchain platform, Kinexys, to streamline their foreign exchange (FX) transactions, executing them in real time, 24/7. This move signifies a significant shift in how major firms are approaching cross-border payments, aiming to enhance liquidity and efficiency.

JPMorgan’s Kinexys: A New Era for FX Transactions

The Kinexys Digital Payments platform allows Siemens and B2C2 to settle transactions in US dollars, British pounds, and euros with near-instant finality. This innovation addresses the limitations of traditional FX systems, which typically operate only on weekdays and can take days to process transactions, according to CryptoNews.

B2C2 Gains 24/7 Liquidity Edge with Blockchain Integration

B2C2, a subsidiary of Japan’s SBI Holdings, sees this integration as a crucial advantage during volatile crypto market conditions. CEO Thomas Restout emphasized the system’s ability to move cash seamlessly at any time, which is vital for risk management. Traditional banking systems can be restrictive, especially during weekends when banks are closed, hindering traders from deploying capital effectively.

This adoption reflects a broader trend among corporations towards blockchain-based payment infrastructures, which promise faster settlements, reduced back-office costs, and enhanced cash management visibility. Heiko Nix, Siemens’ global head of cash management and payments, noted that this latest enhancement simplifies transactional FX, overcoming time-zone barriers and optimizing cash mobilization.

Expanding Blockchain Adoption: The Case of Trimont LLC

In a related development, Trimont LLC, a commercial real estate loan servicer managing $730 billion in assets, adopted JPMorgan’s Kinexys blockchain to automate loan payment processing. This system reduces settlement times from two days to mere minutes, reflecting the growing corporate interest in blockchain’s capabilities for faster and more efficient financial operations.

While JPMorgan’s Kinexys network handles approximately $3 billion in daily transactions, a fraction of the bank’s overall volume, it represents a significant move toward real-time finance.
