Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse says the US Senate Banking Committee is inviting him to testify this Wednesday on the need for passing crypto market structure legislation. In a post to X (formerly Twitter), Garlinghouse thanked the committee’s chairman and South Carolina senator Tim Scott, Wyoming senator Cynthia Lummis, and Arizona senator Ruben Gallego for the invitation.
“Constructive crypto market structure legislation in the US is imperative in bringing about a new era of innovation and financial opportunity while protecting consumers,” Garlinghouse wrote on Monday.
Cryptocurrency has been on the radar of several government institutions and committees in 2025. With Trump’s administration keeping its promise to be “crypto-friendly,” the industry has seen much more lenient regulation. The U.S. Senate Banking Committee has scheduled a hearing on July 9 to discuss proposed legislation aimed at clarifying regulatory definitions in the crypto market. Several pro-crypto voices are expected to be in attendance, and the Ripple CEO could be one of the most important. Other witnesses expected to speak include Summer Mersinger of the Blockchain Association, Jonathan Levin of Chainalysis, and Dan Robinson of Paradigm.

The price of Ripple’s native XRP token could see a slight tick upwards following Garlinghouse’s announcement and testimony on Wednesday. The asset is already up 1.9% today and over 4% in the past week. Investors in the XRP and crypto community are largely bullish on the altcoin and are eying the next push to $2.50.
