Digital artist DeeKay has announced the launch of DeePle Generation 2, the latest expansion of his avatar-based art project built on the Shape L2 blockchain.
The update introduces new personalisation features, tiered collectibles, and a staggered minting schedule that will roll out over the coming months. Holders of Generation 1 DeePles and participants in prior item mints will receive early access.
Ahead of the main Generation 2 release, a special DeePle x OpenSea item drop is set to go live on June 19 for 48 hours, priced at 0.008 ETH each with a maximum of three items per wallet. Participants in this early drop will also gain a chance to mint a Generation 2 DeePle.

DeePle is a dynamic avatar creation project developed by digital artist DeeKay, blending character art and blockchain technology. The project name is derived from “DeeKay + People,” reflecting its focus on identity, creativity, and user expression.
Running on the Shape L2 blockchain, each DeePle is a unique, collectible character. Users can equip or trade items, edit their avatar’s look, and download multiple versions of their art for use as a profile picture or banner.
Whilst marketed as a project where “you can do nothing,” DeePle encourages engagement through collecting, customisation, and long-term evolution.

Generation 2 introduces several new features and changes designed to expand personalisation and deepen community involvement:
- Name Tags: Every DeePle now has a customisable name tag that can be edited by the holder.
- Tiered Backgrounds: The background colour of each avatar reflects its tier or rarity level.
- Lore and Storytelling: One-of-one DeePles will include lore written by DeeKay, whilst public holders can write their own stories directly on the DeePleDex.
- Download Options: Avatars can be downloaded in four formats—Art, Banner, PFP, and Transparent Art.
DeePle’s item system has also been expanded:
- Common items are always available while the marketplace (factory) is open.
- Rare items are tied to special events.
- Collab items are released through partnership drops.
- Legendary items, hand-crafted by DeeKay, are limited 1/1s that drop occasionally.

The minting process for DeePle Generation 2 will go live on the official website at deeple.xyz, taking place over three phases starting on June 23 at 13:00 ET, with additional drops planned for July 23 and August 23. A total of 1,000 DeePles will be made available in the first round, priced at 0.069 ETH each.
Of the initial supply, 800 DeePles are reserved for the Shape community and holders of Generation 1 DeePles. Eligibility will be determined via a snapshot taken on June 20 at 13:00 ET. Eligible participants may mint one DeePle per qualifying ticket or Gen 1 held, and will have a 24-hour window to complete the mint, whilst any unclaimed supply will roll over into the next phase.
The remaining 200 DeePles are allocated to users who are part of the Shape community and who have previously minted DeePle items on OpenSea. These participants may mint one DeePle per wallet during a separate 24-hour window.
If any supply remains after this period, it will be made available to the general public.
