Just a decade ago, retiring with cryptocurrency would have seemed like a joke to the world. But today, the entire market is worth over $3 trillion. As Bitcoin (BTC) reached the $100,000 mark, several other assets in the industry followed suit and hit their personal goals. Ripple’s XRP emerged as a top performer as the altcoin climbed by more than 339% over the past 12 months. This boosted the portfolios of several investors who continued to hold the asset and not sell despite the numerous hurdles it faced. But will the altcoin rise enough to help an investor retire?

How High Is XRP Trading Today?
At the time of writing, Ripple’s cryptocurrency was trading at $2.22. The asset saw a 0.66% rise over the past 24 hours. XRP ended the month of April on a great note and stepped into May in a similar manner. During the past week alone, the altcoin recorded a 2.19% rise.
Despite this notable rise during the past year, the altcoin continues to trade 42% below its all-time high. XRP reached a peak of $3.84 about seven years ago. More recently, the asset hit $3.39, the closest XRP has been to its all-time high.

2040 Price Prediction
According to data from CoinCodex, Ripple’s XRP is expected to record a notable rise from its current price over the next couple of years. But the firm has revealed that the altcoin will surge only to a high of $8.74 in November of 2040. While this represents a substantial rise of 291%, it isn’t a massive increase for retirement.
An investor would receive about 900.90 XRP if they invested $2,000 in the cryptocurrency at its current price of $2.22. Should the cryptocurrency reach its expected price of $8.74 by 2040, the investment’s worth would increase to around $7,640.83. This indicates that XRP has the potential to be a future-oriented asset that investors are prepared to retain through market cycles, as it represents a significant long-term gain.
