BNB Chain will sponsor ETH Oxford 2025, hosting a hacker house to facilitate blockchain innovation. Key events include workshops and a hackathon with a $156,000 prize pool.
BNB Chain is set to play a significant role at the ETH Oxford 2025 hackathon, according to BNB Chain. The event will be held at the Mathematical Institute of Oxford University from February 7-9, 2025. As a key sponsor, BNB Chain aims to foster decentralized ecosystem growth by engaging with one of the UK’s fastest-growing developer communities.
BNB Hacker House and Event Highlights
In support of the hackathon, BNB Chain will establish a hacker house in Oxford. This facility will cater specifically to developers working on BNB Chain projects, with accommodation requests managed through the ETH Oxford application process. A public event, featuring a welcome coffee and breakfast, will be hosted on February 8, providing networking opportunities for participants.
Innovation Opportunities and Prize Pool
ETH Oxford will embrace innovation without constraints, focusing on Decentralized Science (DeSci) and AI, although developers are free to explore other areas. The hackathon boasts a $156,000 prize pool, with the top team winning a $2,500 cash prize, a $100,000 kickstart package, and a direct interview for the Most Valuable Builder (MVB) Program by BNB Chain. Additional rewards include a special $1,000 bonus for the best project built on BNB Greenfield, BNB Chain’s decentralized storage network.
Workshops and Technical Sessions
Alongside the hackathon, BNB Chain will conduct a workshop focusing on the technical differences between Ethereum and BNB Smart Chain. This session will also include an introduction to the BNB Chain ecosystem and is scheduled for February 8, between 12:15 PM and 1:15 PM.
Project Submission and Scoring Criteria
To qualify for rewards, projects must be new developments, deployed on or connected to the opBNB/BSC mainnet or testnet, and open-source. Participants must also ensure at least two successful transactions within the hackathon timeframe and submit shared artifacts such as GitHub repositories and demo videos. Projects will be scored based on factors like contract verification, open-source code, roadmap, documentation, community engagement, and innovative design.
