Cardano just woke up. ADA jumped roughly 11% in a day, from $0.239 on Sunday to $0.27 this Monday. Meanwhile, Bitcoin barely moved.
So why is Cardano up today? In short, no single headline did it. ADA broke the $0.26 resistance, shorts got squeezed, and a week of ecosystem news supplied the fuel. As a result, price sits at its highest level since May.
Below, I cover the news behind this Cardano breakout, the key levels, and my own trades.
Why Is Cardano Up Today?
First, the honest answer: nothing new was announced today. Several sites credit the T. Rowe Price crypto ETF. However, that fund added ADA back in August. Old news rarely moves a coin 11%.
Instead, three things lined up.
To begin with, the chart broke. ADA spent days stuck under $0.26. Once that level gave way, buyers piled in. Spot volume then reached roughly $1 billion in 24 hours.
Secondly, shorts got caught. Open interest fell close to 12% during the move. That pattern usually means short sellers had to close. In other words, part of this candle is a squeeze.
Thirdly, the news flow has been steady for weeks:
- RealFi launched on mainnet on October 1 with its USDrf stablecoin.
- Two research projects with Petrobras followed on October 2.
- Cardano joined Coinbase’s x402 payment standard in late September.
- Mastercard welcomed the Cardano Foundation into its Crypto Partner Program in mid-September.
- UCLA Anderson’s Venture Accelerator signed a multi-year partnership.

The Warning Sign Behind the Cardano Breakout
However, not everything looks clean. DEX volume on Cardano actually dropped during the rally. It fell from $11.7 million on October 1 to $5.7 million on October 3.
Therefore, the buying came from centralized exchanges and derivatives. On-chain users didn’t lead it. That matters, because squeezes fade quickly when real demand doesn’t follow. For that reason, I treat this as a technical move until usage confirms it.
Cardano Technical Analysis: Key ADA Levels
Zooming out, the trend is clearly up. ADA has gained about 62% since mid-August. Over the last 30 days alone, it added around 30%. You can follow the live chart on our ADA price page.
Structure confirms it too. ADA keeps printing higher highs and higher lows on the daily chart. If those terms are new to you, my market structure guide explains them step by step.
Upside Targets
Now $0.26 flips from resistance to support. Next, bulls face $0.28. Above that, $0.29 is the target many traders are watching. Beyond it, $0.30 is the big round number. A clean break there opens the $0.32 to $0.33 zone.
Downside Levels
On the other hand, a daily close back under $0.26 would mean a failed breakout. In that case, $0.25 comes first. After that, $0.24 is where Sunday’s move started. Lose $0.24 and the whole candle gets erased.
How I’d Play It
Personally, I’m not in a trade on ADA. Chasing a green 11% candle is rarely a good entry. Instead, I’d wait for a retest of $0.26. If it holds, the risk is easy to define.

Macro This Week: ISM Services and Fed Minutes
Macro still matters, even with a light calendar. Remember, the Fed hiked rates in September for the first time in three years. Consequently, every data point now feeds the October hike debate.
Friday’s jobs report missed badly, with only 29,000 jobs added. Because of that, hike odds dropped and risk assets caught a bid. I covered that day in my post on the jobs report and my SOL short.
Today, ISM Services printed 54.9, slightly below the prior 55.4. Still, the prices paid index rose to 74.0 from 72.6. So growth is cooling a little while inflation pressure stays sticky. That’s an awkward mix for the Fed.
Next up, the FOMC minutes land on Wednesday at 2:00 pm ET. Those releases get volatile because traders hunt for hints about the next rate move. Also, China is on Golden Week holiday until Wednesday. As a result, Asian liquidity is thin and moves can overshoot.
My Current Trades
Here’s my book right now:
- ETH long: it hit TP1, then stopped at breakeven. Small profit, on to the next one.
- Long MET and USELESS.
- Short SOL. My thesis from Friday hasn’t changed.
- Short ZEC. It already hit TP1 and TP2. My stop sits at breakeven, so the rest is a free ride.
Yes, I’m short SOL and ZEC while buying both on spot. Those are different timeframes. The shorts are leveraged swings. Spot buys are for years. After all, ZEC became the runner of this cycle when it broke $1,500.
My DCA Strategy Continues
Meanwhile, the boring part keeps running. I buy twice a week on BTC, SOL, HYPE, ZEC and NEAR. No chart-watching needed.
I still believe the 4-year cycle bottom is in. Therefore, dips are for accumulating. For the rules I follow on red days, read my buy the dip strategy.
ADA isn’t on my list. Even so, a day like today shows why holding spot in strong majors pays off.

Cardano gave us the only real action of a dull weekend. Still, I see a technical breakout and a short squeeze here, not a new fundamental story. So I’m watching $0.26. Above it, bulls stay in control. Below it, the move was a trap.

Cardano Breakout FAQ
Why is Cardano up today?
ADA rose about 11% because price broke the $0.26 resistance and short sellers got squeezed. In addition, recent ecosystem news like the RealFi launch and the Petrobras projects supported sentiment. No single new announcement triggered the move.
Did the T. Rowe Price ETF cause the ADA rally?
Probably not. T. Rowe Price added ADA to its Active Crypto ETF in August, weeks before this move. Therefore, it works as background support, not as today’s trigger.
What are the key ADA price levels?
Support sits at $0.26, then $0.25 and $0.24. Resistance comes in at $0.28 and $0.29, followed by the round $0.30 level.
Is the Cardano rally sustainable?
That depends on follow-through. DEX volume on Cardano fell during the rally, so on-chain demand hasn’t confirmed it yet. Because of that, a hold above $0.26 is the first test.
If the sections land as H2 this time, tell me and I’ll use this heading setup for every draft from now on.
