Best Crypto Exchanges in Brazil (2026): Pix-Ready Picks

Brazil will always hold a special place in my heart. Back in 2012, it was the first country I ever traveled to alone — three months, far from home in the Netherlands, with no plan beyond figuring it out as I went. I had an amazing time there and fell in love with the culture, the nature, the food, and the people. I still need to go back, maybe one day with my family.

This guide covers the best crypto exchange Brazil has to offer, five picks that actually work with Pix, what the country’s new VASP framework means for you, and what changes before the big October 2026 deadline.

Quick Comparison

Exchange Best for KYC Local Deposit Method Bonus
Bybit Overall pick, trust Required Pix (P2P), card Welcome bonus
Binance Liquidity, coin selection Required Pix (P2P), card Welcome bonus
Mercado Bitcoin Domestic leader, Pix-native Required Pix, bank transfer Welcome bonus
Bitget Copy trading, derivatives Required Pix (P2P), card Welcome bonus
Foxbit Zero-fee BRL withdrawals Required Pix, bank transfer None currently

Crypto Regulations in Brazil (2026)

Brazil moved faster than almost anywhere else in the region this year, going from a loosely defined market to a fully supervised one in a matter of months.

The New VASP Framework

Three Central Bank resolutions took effect on February 2, 2026, and together they reshape the entire market. Resolution 519 sets authorization rules for crypto companies, while Resolution 520 governs how VASPs operate day to day. Crypto activity itself now falls under Brazil’s foreign exchange rules through Resolution 521. Existing platforms get a 270-day window from that date to apply for authorization, meaning the real deadline lands on October 30, 2026.

What Happens After the Deadline

Any VASP that hasn’t secured authorization by October 30 must stop serving Brazilian users and give clients 30 days to migrate their assets elsewhere. Foreign platforms face the same choice: set up locally, transfer customers to an authorized Brazilian entity, or exit the market.

Cross-Border and Reporting Rules

Cross-border virtual asset payments now sit under Brazil’s FX regime. VASPs face a $100,000 cap on international transfers to counterparties not authorized by the Central Bank, while licensed banks and brokerages get a higher $500,000 ceiling. On the reporting side, Brazil’s tax authority is rolling out a new monthly system called DeCripto, and any transaction over R$30,000 triggers mandatory reporting to the Federal Revenue Service.

Always confirm an exchange’s authorization status before depositing, especially as the October deadline approaches. Plenty of platforms currently serving Brazil will need to adapt or leave.

Common Problems for Brazilian Users

Pix Name-Matching Friction

Pix made Brazilian banking fast, but it’s created a very specific crypto headache: your bank account name has to match your KYC name exactly. Send a Pix deposit from a third-party account, and most exchanges will automatically reverse it to prevent identity theft. It’s a good security measure, but it catches plenty of first-time users off guard.

Reporting Thresholds

Between the R$30,000 mandatory-reporting trigger and the new BRL 35,000 monthly threshold for transactions not intermediated by a Brazilian VASP, active traders need to track their volume more carefully than they might expect. Keep clean records regardless of which platform you use.

KYC and Verification Hassle

Verification has tightened alongside the new VASP rules, and Brazilian platforms now run CPF-linked identity checks as standard. A Palau ID is worth knowing about if you want to limit how many platforms hold a copy of your passport — it’s a digital residency credential several exchanges accept, and the point is data minimization, not skipping verification.

A VPN is a reasonable general privacy tool for everyday browsing, but using one to make an exchange think you’re logging in from somewhere else breaks that platform’s terms of service and isn’t a real workaround.

Top 5 Exchanges for Brazil

1. Bybit

Bybit is my personal go-to across most of the exchanges I recommend, and Brazil is no exception. It supports Pix through its P2P marketplace, giving you the fast local rails Brazilian users expect alongside genuinely deep global liquidity. Read our full Bybit review and check the latest bonus and promotions for Bybit.

2. Binance

Binance brings the deepest liquidity and widest coin selection of any platform serving Brazil, with Pix support running through its P2P marketplace. It’s the pick for traders who want scale and don’t mind the extra step of a P2P order versus a direct bank rail. Full details in our Binance review, plus the latest bonus and promotions for Binance.

Curious how it stacks up against a DEX? Our Hyperliquid vs Binance comparison covers it in depth.

3. Mercado Bitcoin

Mercado Bitcoin is the biggest name in Brazilian crypto, and it’s built around exactly what Brazilians expect from a financial platform: instant Pix deposits, BRL withdrawals, and local customer support in Portuguese. It handles more than half of the country’s retail crypto activity, and that scale alone makes it the default starting point for most Brazilian users.

We don’t have a full Mercado Bitcoin review live yet — it’s on our shortlist.

4. Bitget

Bitget has built a solid following among Brazilian traders who want copy trading and derivatives depth alongside standard spot access, with Pix available through P2P. It’s a strong middle-ground pick between the local giants and the global liquidity leaders. Check our full Bitget review for the details.

Weighing it against my top pick? Our Bybit vs Bitget comparison breaks it down.

5. Foxbit

Foxbit is Mercado Bitcoin’s closest domestic rival, and in some ways the sharper choice: zero BRL deposit and withdrawal fees, trading fees as low as 0.25%, and deep integration with Pix and local banks. The tradeoff is a smaller coin selection than the bigger international names, so it suits Bitcoin and major-asset buyers more than altcoin traders.

We don’t have a full Foxbit review live yet — it’s on our shortlist alongside Mercado Bitcoin.

Bonus — The DEX Option

For users who’d rather trade without handing an exchange their CPF-linked identity at all, Hyperliquid offers self-custody trading with no sign-up and no intermediary holding your funds. Check our Hyperliquid review, the latest bonus and promotions for Hyperliquid, and our roundup of the best DEX airdrops.

What to Look Out for When Picking Your Exchange

  • Confirm authorization status. With the October 30, 2026 deadline approaching, verify your exchange is on track for Central Bank authorization.
  • Check Pix integration directly. Some platforms offer true Pix rails, others route it through P2P — the experience differs a lot.
  • Match your bank name to your KYC name. Mismatched Pix transfers get reversed automatically.
  • Track your reporting thresholds. R$30,000 and BRL 35,000 triggers apply depending on how you trade.
  • Compare fees across local and global platforms. Domestic exchanges often win on Pix convenience; global ones usually win on raw trading fees.

Final Words

The best crypto exchange in Brazil in 2026 depends on how much you value local convenience versus global scale. Mercado Bitcoin and Foxbit offer the smoothest Pix experience and the most Brazilian-first support, while Bybit, Binance, and Bitget bring deeper liquidity and broader coin access through P2P rails.

That three-month trip in 2012 shaped a lot of how I see travel and risk-taking to this day. Brazil was where I learned I could go somewhere completely alone and come out the other side better for it. I owe the country a proper return visit, and next time I want my kids to see it too.

FAQ

What is the best crypto exchange in Brazil? Mercado Bitcoin is the strongest overall pick for most Brazilian users, thanks to its Pix-native deposits, BRL withdrawals, and local support. Bybit and Binance suit traders who want deeper global liquidity, while Foxbit offers the lowest fees for straightforward Bitcoin buying.

Is Binance legal in Brazil? Yes, for now, though Binance and every other platform serving Brazilian users must secure Central Bank authorization by October 30, 2026, or transition customers to an authorized entity.

Do I pay tax on crypto in Brazil? Yes. Transactions over R$30,000 trigger mandatory reporting to the Federal Revenue Service, and Brazil’s new DeCripto system is rolling out monthly reporting requirements for crypto service providers starting mid-2026.

Which exchange has no KYC in Brazil? None of the licensed platforms — Brazil’s new VASP framework requires full CPF-linked identity verification. For an account-free option, Hyperliquid lets you trade from your own wallet with no sign-up.

What changed for Brazilian crypto users in 2026? Three Central Bank resolutions took effect on February 2, 2026, creating a full authorization and supervision framework for VASPs, with an October 30, 2026 deadline for platforms to secure their license or exit the market.

Can I use Pix on international exchanges like Binance or Bybit? Yes, but usually through their P2P marketplaces rather than a direct bank rail. Domestic exchanges like Mercado Bitcoin and Foxbit integrate Pix more directly into standard deposits and withdrawals.
