Why Strategy Says Its Value Extends Beyond Bitcoin Holdings

On May 10, Strategy President and Chief Executive Officer Phong Le addressed the question many investors and observers ask about the company: why is Strategy valuable beyond the bitcoin on its balance sheet? His answer, posted on social media platform X, focused on the operating structure around the BTC strategy. Le pointed to enterprise scale, public-company discipline, long-tenured teams, compliance systems, and a business model built over decades.

That value case includes a software business that helps fund bitcoin operating expenses. In the first quarter of 2026, the unit posted its strongest financial quarter in a decade. Revenue grew 12%, cloud revenue rose 59%, and controllable margin increased 27%. Strategy also serves more than 3,000 customers, over 500,000 active users, and nearly half of the Fortune 500. Its workforce spans 1,500 employees and more than 25 countries. Le stated:

“Strategy’s success is rooted in more than bitcoin on our balance sheet. It is built on a scaled enterprise software company with a rich history of invention, institutional discipline, and global scale.”

That distinction is central to Strategy’s valuation argument. Le said the company has software engineers, product managers, cloud and security specialists, enterprise sales teams, and senior leaders across finance, legal, operations, and human resources. Many employees have spent more than 25 years at the company, giving Strategy institutional experience inside a young digital asset sector.

How Strategy Connects Bitcoin Value to Operating Discipline

For investors assessing Strategy, the point is not only that the company holds BTC. It is that the treasury strategy sits inside an audited public company with established controls. Le detailed that Strategy trades on Nasdaq under the ticker MSTR, files detailed quarterly and annual financial reports with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and undergoes independent audits by accounting firm KPMG. The company also maintains cybersecurity and compliance certifications, including SOC 2 Type 2, ISO 27001, and FedRAMP, standards commonly used to validate security, operational controls, and government-grade cloud requirements.

BTC also gives Strategy a differentiated identity that reaches beyond the balance sheet. Le said the company’s mission, equity performance, and global community have energized employees. Customers have moved from skeptical to curious to supportive, while Strategy continues attracting talent and investing aggressively in artificial intelligence. Le described the business model, stating:
