Conflux (CFX) Network announces a major hardfork upgrade, implementing eight CIPs and significant RPC modifications to enhance network compatibility and security.
The Conflux (CFX) Network is set to undergo a significant system upgrade, introducing modifications across eight Conflux Improvement Proposals (CIPs) and implementing related Remote Procedure Call (RPC) updates. This upgrade aims to enhance the network’s compatibility with Ethereum and improve security measures, according to the Conflux Forum.
CIP Modifications
The CIPs involved in the upgrade include CIP-150, CIP-151, CIP-152, CIP-154, CIP-156, CIP-165, CIP-645, and CIP-7702. These proposals focus on enhancing Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatibility, fixing bugs, and adjusting specifications.
CIP-150 replicates EIP-3541, preventing new code deployment that begins with the 0xEF byte. CIP-151 mirrors EIP-6780, restricting the SELFDESTRUCT operation to specific cases. CIP-152 addresses security issues by preventing address collisions between externally owned accounts (EOAs) and contracts.
CIP-154 resolves an implementation error in CIP-142, while CIP-156 modifies penalties for Proof of Stake (PoS) violations from permanent to temporary stake locking. CIP-165 introduces precompiles for BLS12-381 curve operations, enabling efficient BLS signature verification.
CIP-645 aligns Conflux eSpace with Ethereum’s EVM, ensuring compatibility with Ethereum development tools. It incorporates several EIPs, including EIP-1108, EIP-1884, EIP-2028, and others, addressing gas costs and enhancing security.
Finally, CIP-7702 introduces EIP-7702 to Conflux eSpace, further aligning its functionality with Ethereum standards.
RPC Updates
The RPC changes include support for EIP-7702 transactions in methods such as eth_call and eth_estimateGas. Other significant updates involve transaction-related RPCs and parity-style trace RPCs, now compatible with parity and erigon.
Additional updates include support for gas fees in transaction receipts for eSpace RPC, changes to block.gasLimit, and the introduction of new RPC methods like trace_get and trace_blockSetAuth. The upgrade also enhances eSpace compatibility with geth style txpool namespace methods.
This comprehensive upgrade underscores Conflux’s commitment to maintaining a robust and secure network, while ensuring seamless integration with Ethereum’s ecosystem.
